About
Why A Cyprus Blog?
Working and living in Cyprus and previously spending a lot of time on holiday in Cyprus we share common frustrations and occasionally delight with our peers, friends, colleagues and visitors to the island. We often look on in amazement as we watch individuals; government, companies and authorities make fundamental errors forever causing numerous knock-on legacy issues.
We frequently look at issues and see the needs of many ignored, the truth often blinded by false marketing speak and – unlike any Hollywood movie – the good guys rarely win.
Cyprus Talk is set up to provide those who care to listen with clarity, simple guidance and the inside scoop on what’s happening on the island.
Our blog is aimed at visitors, locals, the ex-pat community, local government, the authorities, property developers, holiday companies, businesses and just about anyone who has something to do with Cyprus.
We’re attempting to re-address the balance and level the playing field to help the good guys and best practices shine through.
Although I have held ‘high’ positions within local government and commerce in Cyprus and dealt in business across Europe and the UK my views are totally unbiased and I like to keep any criticism constructive. To help me maintain this level of honesty, we will always keep our true identities anonymous.
Who Am I?
I am the Cyprus Insider; let’s leave it at that for now. By writing this blog under my true identity would prevent me from giving the world a truthful Insider’s View.
By Keeping my identity anonymous allows me to dish the dirt and give the world my thoughts on how I believe things should be done and what people need to be aware of when living, holidaying or working in Cyprus.
What gives me the Right to blog?
It is very easy for people to publish their thoughts. I am often reminded that this new found ease of communication does not make us more qualified to talk on any topic, but the meeting of minds, thoughts and sometimes brilliant ramblings can make a difference - and that’s what I’m about.
As I’ve already mentioned I’ve spent many years working and living in Cyprus and have family here. I like to think that contributors on Cyprus Talk see the island through objective eyes and whose mix of experiences both negative and positive can change things for the best.
It never ceases to amaze me how many people in business and authority in Cyprus take notice of the information on this site.
